I love to paint. Born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand, I have been living and painting in Rhode Island since 2003 when I enrolled at the Community College of Rhode Island. There I developed a preference for acrylic paint, a medium I continue to use for it’s vibrancy and flexibility.

Many influences have shaped my painting style. I am in awe of such artists as the Impressionist Claude Monet, Fauvist Andre Derain, and the American Realist Edward Hopper. From them I have developed my love of color, light, and expressive brushstroke, which excites and motivates me to paint.

I am drawn to the picturesque beauty of the New England coastline, and have painted numerous landscapes and seascapes, though my interest lies mainly with the figure, interiors, architecture, and cityscapes. I take digital photographs of my subject matter, which I use as reference for my paintings, sketching out my ideas before laying them down in paint.

Since May 2006 I have participated in numerous exhibitions in Rhode Island, selling my work to private collectors throughout New England and abroad. I am a member of Portsmouth Arts Guild, and show my work there on a regular basis.

I live and paint in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, with my husband and our three cats.
