I
spent a lot of time this week getting ready for Art al Fresco, the
one day Parisian-style art show in Bristol, RI. Unfortunately the
rain cancelled it this morning. The rain date is Sunday
August 3rd so hopefully the weather will be dry and sunny.
My
new painting "Hydrangea Heaven" will be on display on
the 3rd, along with several other new pieces including "Hydrangeas"
and "Delicate Lady", which can be viewed in Gallery 2
under Still Life. I'll also have many local landscape scenes. Something
for everyone. Hope to see you there. |

| We've
had beautiful weather lately. Sunshine is a great motivator so I've
had a productive painting week. Produced another small painting this
afternoon "Summer Stroll", which can be viewed in the Miniatures
3 gallery under Landscapes. I was in Newport on Ocean Drive when I
spotted the couple in the painting walking along the beach. It seemed
like the quintessential summer image and I couldn't resist taking
a photo. |

I
painted "Around the Bend" today, inspired by a trip to
Tiverton last month. I painted "Through the Fields" some
weeks ago from the same location, a beautiful field of tall grass
and trees intersected by a gravel road. Both can be viewed in Gallery
2 of Landscapes.
I
also finished another daffodil painting which I started yesterday
- "Daffodil Garden", as well as "Waiting for Takeout
at Evelyn's" that I began last week. It's been a busy few months
in preparation for Art al Fresco, the one day art
show in Bristol on Sunday July 27th. On August 23rd I'm also participating
in Art Affair on the Fence at the First Congregational
Church in Bristol. I'm looking forward to both events. We've had
a lot of unsettled weather lately, so I hope it will be nice on
the day. |

Last
week I painted two more Irises. They're such delicate and pretty
flowers, and as they're right outside my door I thought I should
take advantage of their abundance. Sadly they've died off now, and
the garden looks a little bare, but at least everything is green
and flourishing.
I've
also been working on a commission - a painting of a bowl of lemons.
I finished it this week and mailed it, so once my client has received
the painting I can post it to the website. I wouldn't want to spoil
the surprise.
My
latest painting is of my cat Corrina, who sadly died a few weeks
ago. My husband and I wanted a reminder of her so now we can still
see her every day. |

I've
been painting more miniatures this week. I took some great photos
in Tiverton last weekend which I'll be working on, as well as some
still life paintings. The irises at the front of our house are blooming
which have inspired me. At this time of year there are so many amazing
landscapes and flowers to capture on canvas that sometimes I don't
know where to start.
On
another note, my painting "Olga's Cafe" got into the Portsmouth
Arts Guild juried Portraits and Figures show
last week. The exhibition runs until the end of the month. I've
also got some of my paintings on display at The Armory, an antique
store at 365 Thames Street in Newport, RI. |
